Thinking about booking a Virgin Voyages cruise and wondering whether Rockstar status is worth the extra cost? In this guide we'll break down everything you need to know, from the suites themselves to the exclusive areas and VIP perks that come with the upgrade.

We absolutely loved our first Virgin Voyages cruise, where we stayed in a standard Sea Terrace cabin. We were impressed by how thoughtfully the entire experience was designed, from the dining to the entertainment and onboard atmosphere.
Rockstar status promises an even more elevated experience, but it comes with a significant price tag. So the real question is: are Virgin Voyages Rockstar Suites worth it?
For our second Virgin Voyages sailing aboard Scarlet Lady, we booked a Rockstar Suite. In this review we'll share our honest experience, highlight the benefits we loved, and help you decide whether Rockstar status is a worthwhile upgrade for your own voyage.

What Are Rockstar Suites?
Rockstar Suites are Virgin Voyages' premium luxury accommodations. In addition to larger cabins and upgraded amenities, Rockstar sailors receive a range of exclusive perks both onboard and ashore.
There are two tiers:
- Rockstar Quarters – Premium suites with VIP benefits and access to exclusive Rockstar areas.
- Mega Rockstar Quarters – The most luxurious suites on the ship, with additional perks such as complimentary drinks and enhanced concierge service.
For reference, prices vary significantly depending on the ship, itinerary, and time of year, but generally:
- Rockstar Quarters: Approximately $1,500–$5,000 per cabin
- Mega Rockstar Quarters: Approximately $8,000–$15,000+ per cabin
It's also possible to secure a Rockstar Suite through Virgin Voyages' upgrade bidding program. This can significantly reduce the cost if your bid is accepted. We explain more about the bidding process below.
Benefits
VIP Boarding
We've always found check-in relatively smooth on Virgin Voyages. But Rockstars are among the first sailors to board, meaning even less waiting around. Once onboard, we were greeted with a welcome glass of champagne while we waited to be shown to our suite.
Priority Booking
Rockstar sailors can book shore excursions 135 days before sailing and restaurant reservations 120 days before sailing. That's well ahead of regular sailors, making it much easier to secure the restaurants and experiences you want.
Dedicated Rockstar Agent
Rockstars are assigned their own dedicated agent. Ours was Jill, and honestly, she was the true Rockstar of the trip.
She was incredibly helpful and constantly checked in to make sure everything was going smoothly. We had a SCUBA diving excursion booked, but Tom woke up with sinus issues that morning, so we decided to change plans at the last minute. Jill took care of everything without any hassle.

We were also celebrating our 10-year anniversary, and Jill arranged several thoughtful surprises throughout the voyage that made the trip feel even more special.
From what we've read online, the Rockstar Agent experience can be a little hit-or-miss depending on the sailing. But ours was exceptional.

In-Room Mini Bar
Virgin Voyages stocks the mini-bar generously, and the Rockstar package includes the first round of drinks. On the first night, you'll have the opportunity to swap out any items you don't want. So if you don't drink beer, for example, you can exchange it for more wine or your preferred spirits. We weren't in the mood for a big drinking vacation, so we ended up taking quite a few bottles home with us.

Richard's Rooftop
Rockstar sailors enjoy exclusive access to Richard's Rooftop. It has its own bar and food service, along with plenty of places to lounge and several hot tubs overlooking the ocean.
On busy voyages in particular, it's a fantastic place to escape the crowds and enjoy the views.

Every evening from 5–6 p.m., Richard's Rooftop hosts a Sunset Hour where guests can enjoy a complimentary glass of champagne or another alcoholic beverage. We found it was the perfect way to start each evening.

Bimini Beach Club Private Rockstar Retreat
If your trip includes the Bimini Beach Club, Rockstars have access to an exclusive private area with enhanced food and drink service.
The Beach Club can get busy and lively throughout the day, so we really appreciated having a quieter space where we could relax and unwind

The Suite
We stayed in a Seriously Suite on Deck 12. We stayed in a Seriously Suite on Deck 12. Although this is the entry-level Rockstar Suite, we were surprised by how spacious it felt.

All Rockstar Suites come with a king bed, a fully stocked bar, a record player, and a large TV with integrated audio/visual controls. The bathroom is spacious and includes a Peek-a-Boo shower (it seems Virgin Voyages has dialed back some of its cheekier touches over the years, but the Peek-a-Boo showers remain!).

You'll also have a large Sea Terrace complete with Virgin Voyages' signature red hammock.
Designed by Tom Dixon's Design Research Studio, the suites have a stylish fusion of vintage glamour and futuristic design that perfectly complements the Virgin Voyages aesthetic and adds an extra layer of luxury to the experience.

What about Mega Rockstar?
We haven't stayed in a Mega Rockstar Suite ourselves, but we did make friends with a couple onboard who invited us to take a look around theirs. The suites are enormous and come with several additional perks, including complimentary drinks, spa access, and enhanced VIP benefits.
For us, Rockstar included everything we needed to make the voyage feel special. But if you're celebrating a major occasion, entertaining friends onboard, or simply want the most luxurious experience Virgin Voyages has to offer, Mega Rockstar is worth considering.
How To Bid For An Upgrade
Truly answering the question, "Are Virgin Voyages Rockstar Suites worth it?" comes down to your budget and how much value you place on the additional perks.
If you're not willing to pay full price, Virgin Voyages offers a bidding system for cabin upgrades. These typically open around 65 days before sailing, though it's worth checking regularly to see when your voyage becomes eligible.
We secured our Rockstar Suite through an upgrade bid. Honestly, we didn't expect our bid to be successful, so we were pleasantly surprised when Virgin Voyages accepted it. If you have some flexibility in your budget, it's definitely worth submitting a bid.
One thing to keep in mind: if Virgin Voyages accepts your bid, they automatically process the upgrade and charge your card. You can't change your mind afterward.

Final Thoughts: Is it Worth It To Be A Rockstar?
Are Virgin Voyages Rockstar Suites Worth It? For us, the answer is yes.
Rockstar status definitely takes the Virgin Voyages experience to another level. The larger suite, dedicated Rockstar Agent, exclusive spaces, and extra perks combined to make the voyage feel noticeably more special and luxurious.
That said, whether it's worth it ultimately comes down to your budget. Virgin Voyages is already an excellent cruise experience without Rockstar status, so this is very much a luxury upgrade rather than a necessity.
We joked with several sailors that once you go Rockstar, you can't go back, and we're starting to think that might be true.
